By NM   The diagnoses of mental illness increases by the day, not just in the U.S but all over the world. Chances are, you probably know one or more people with a mental illness.

There are treatment options available for mental illnesses such as medication and counseling. But as the saying goes, prevention is better than cure.

Why is prevention better? Although treatment often works, it usually costs a lot more. The costs often lead to financial losses, physical-health deterioration, and trauma to family members.

The truth is, many mental illnesses can be prevented, and the Bible provides so much of helpful information for it. After all, it is our guide from God on what we should think and how our minds should work.

Here are 5 Bible verses that will be sure to prevent mental health issues, if you meditate on them daily:

When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken. (Psalm 34:17-20)

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)

So his fame spread throughout all Syria, and they brought him all the sick, those afflicted with various diseases and pains, those oppressed by demons, epileptics, and paralytics, and he healed them. (Matthew 4:24)

For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. (2 Timothy 1:7)

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10)

The facts and opinions on mental illness are highly debatable. Some know that God can heal anybody from anything, I mean he raised Lazarus from the dead. He for sure could cure any mental illness in a single moment. And some believe that it is an illness that needs to be medicated. I do not disagree, God is the ultimate healer and Great Physician, but sometimes God does use His people and His Word to heal people too.

This is the reason I started the post with prevention, the Bible has everything you need to prevent this any type of mental illness. It has everything you need to be healed too. If you’re reading this and you’ve been diagnosed with a mental illness know that it is okay to take medicine but more than that; if you want accelerated healing, if you want to experience a peace that surpasses all understanding, if you want to feel joy unspeakable, meditate on scripture and go to God in prayer daily. He will not fail you.
